But what exactly is the Internet?
What is the World Wide Web?

  • The Internet is a worldwide network of computers, connected electronically by phone lines, fiber-optics, and other links, that can share and exchange information.

  • The World Wide Web (or WWW) is a part of the Internet that uses text, images, sounds and video.
  • Documents are linked together so, by using the computer mouse, you can jump from document to document -- even if the documents are on computers in different countries. These links are called Hyperlinks.
