Fantasy

When you escape into the world of such authors as Roald Dahl and Madeleine L'Engle, you are entering into the intriguing world of fantasy. It is a world in which the impossible becomes convincingly possible.

Authors create modern fantasy by changing one or more characteristics of everyday reality. They may create entirely new worlds, or they may give their characters extraordinary experiences in the real world. A realistic character may go down a rabbit hole and enter another world, or nonrealistic characters, such as Mary Norton's little people in The Borrowers, may exist in otherwise realistic settings. In one way or another, authors of fantasy permit readers to enter into imaginative realms of possibility.

Come enter into those realms at the Norfolk Public Library.
