A Great Keepsake for Anyone!
Norfolk, VA (October 11, 2010) The fourth annual Norfolk Historical Calendar is now available to purchase at all Norfolk Public Library locations. The calendar retails for $10.00 and recaptures pieces of Norfolk’s past, with 13 historical photographs from Norfolk Public Library’s Sargeant Memorial Local History & Genealogy Collection, and intriguing tidbits about days gone by.
The Norfolk Historical Calendar, developed by City Historian Peggy McPhillips and designed by Bart Morris, is great for families, history buffs, and anyone who needs something to write personal appointments on. “It is our hope that, as you learn more about Norfolk’s past, you will feel a growing sense of pride for this City by the Sea and that you will want to learn more,” said McPhillips.
The historical calendar is part of the Norfolk Public Library Foundation’s campaign to raise $1.5 million dollars over the next ten years for the Sargeant Memorial Collection Endowment. The endowment, also known as the Local History and Genealogy Endowment, will help to preserve and protect fragile one-of-a-kind items in the library’s history collection.
The calendar is sponsored by The Norfolk Public Library Foundation in partnership with The Norfolk Historical Society, Dominion Capital Partners, The Law Firm of Decker, Cardon, Thomas, Weintraub, and Neskis, PC, and Professional Printing Center.
