Bears (May 2 - 8, 2011) Norfolk, VA (April 27, 2011) – Norfolk Public Libraries are gearing up for visits from the beloved children’s book characters, The Berenstain Bears. Brother and Sister Bear will appear at several storytimes in honor of Children’s Book Week. Children’s Book Week is an initiative of the Children’s Book Council (CBC), and has been celebrated coast-to-coast since 1919. The CBC is a national nonprofit trade association for publishers that advocates literacy, educational programming, and collaborates with other national organizations on issues of industry importance. NPL joins publishers, bookstores, librarians, educators - anywhere kids and books connect - in hosting events to encourage others to embrace the idea of reading for youth. Whether you have children of your own, or a collection of Dr. Seuss books that you’ve managed to keep to adulthood, it goes without saying that children’s books stand the test of time and change lives. Visit your
NPL location during Children’s Book Week, and help keep the spirit of reading
and children’s books alive! Brother and
