D.E.A.R. NORFOLK…DROP EVERYTHING AND READ!
Norfolk, VA (April 25, 2006) – This year, the Norfolk Public Library is pleased to be a part of D.E.A.R. Day on May 23rd. The day is meant to encourage families to set aside time to Drop Everything And Read together at home. Join in celebrating the joy of reading by sharing a book with a relative or friend! Read from your home library or drop by any Norfolk Public Library branch and pick up some books to read during D.E.A.R. Our librarians will be glad to help you pick our age/level appropriate books, if you need ideas.
On May 23rd and year round, Norfolk Public Library supports early childhood literacy with Family Place and early childhood literacy programs. Programs such as Babygarten and the 1,2,3 Grow With Me/Parent-Child Workshop provide parents/caregivers and children an educational, creative and fun environment while programs like Reading Rockets and Alpha Seeds help provide parents/caregivers with skills needed to help children reach their reading potential. Norfolk Public Library is dedicated to strengthening literacy throughout the City of Norfolk.
