Ocean View Lion’s Club to offer Free Sight, Hearing & Diabetes Screenings

Norfolk, VA (August 6, 2009). The Ocean View Lions Club will conduct sight, hearing and diabetes screening on Saturday, August 8th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library located at 111 W. Ocean View Avenue in Norfolk. The screening will be conducted in the Lions Mobile Sight and Hearing Unit which will be located in the library parking lot. This event is open to the public and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lions Clubs International is an organization consisting of 45,000 clubs throughout the world with a membership of 1.3 million. Organized on October 2, 1933, the Ocean View Lions Club recently celebrated its 75th anniversary. From its inception, the club has been closely involved in serving the community. The club provides financial support for, among other things, the Lions Medical Eyebank, the Lions Sight and Hearing Van, the Lions Youth Camp, the Lions Eyeglass Recycle Center, the Lions District Diabetes Camp, the local Foodbank and the Leader Dog for the Blind Program.
