Norfolk, VA (Thursday, June 17, 2010) – Norfolk Public Library’s annual Summer Reading Program (SRP) begins on Monday, June 21. This year, the library’s new online summer reading management program, Evanced, makes participating in SRP easier. Participants will be able to register with just the few clicks of a mouse!
To register, go online to www.npl.lib.va.us and select “Summer Reading Program – Click Here for Information” from the library’s homepage. Next, click the “Sign Up!” link. Adults will need a library card to register, while youth and teens can sign up with a username and password.
Gone are the days of wasted trees and paper on registration cards and reading logs. Evanced helps NPL in its efforts to be greener! Registered participants can submit book reviews and create book lists, and keep track of reading minutes online. To keep track of reading minutes after registering, click on the “Track Your Reading” link from the SRP link on the homepage. The program automatically calculates the total minutes read and notifies readers of prize eligibility and drawings after they have reached reading goals. Families also have the option of registering online as single groups with one login for easy account management.
No Internet access? No problem. Stop by any NPL location and staff can assist with SRP registration at one of the public computers. All registered SRP participants are eligible to receive a free NPL water bottle and to enter drawings for prizes.
The library has thousands of books, audio books, DVDs and CD’s for your pleasure this summer and a variety of quality programs for all ages. The best part is that SRP and all library programs are free! Don’t hesitate - sign up for SRP beginning Monday, June 21, 2010.
