NORFOLK PUBLIC LIBRARY KICKS OFF SUMMER READING CLUBS
Norfolk, VA (June 29, 2005) - Summer Reading Clubs are in full swing at Norfolk Public Library. Programs run through Friday, August 27. Summer Reading fun isn't just for kids…there are prizes and programs for all ages.
In celebration of the start of the 2nd Annual Adult Summer Reading Club - Summer in the City - READ, NPL held a kick-off party in the McArthur Square Park. Adults signed up for the Club and received a cool pair of sunglasses while listening to the soft sounds of steel drums and sipping ice cold lemonade. Anyone that missed the kick-off party can still sign up at any local branch library, read any books they like and earn chances to win cool prizes, like portable CD players or even the grand prize of a DVD/VCR player. Summer in the City - Read ends on Friday, August 27.
Funtastic Reading is the theme for the children's Summer Reading Club this year. Kids, drop by any Norfolk Public Library branch and sign up for Funtastic reading, prizes and programs. Read just 20 minutes a week and be entered into drawings to win weekly prizes at each library and the grand prize at the end of the summer. Funtastic programs include author visits, crafts, magic shows and plays. Don't miss
