LIBRARY WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS TO ITS BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Norfolk, VA (March 2006) - Norfolk Public Library is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees:

  • Dr. Warren Stewart is the retired Superintendent of Goochland County Public Schools and he also served as the Interim Assistant Superintendent of King George County Public Schools. He is the Co-Chair of the J. Frank Sellew Scholarship Campaign and President of the Ocean View Shrine Club. He is the Coordinator of Advocacy for Virginia for the AARP and the President of Bridging Bridges (Bosnia). Dr. Stewart received the Liberty Bell Award from the Richmond Bar Association in 2005, and was Rotarian of the Year in 2002 and 2003. Dr. Stewart resides in Ocean View. All members of the Library Board of Trustees are appointed by City Council. The Board meets the third Tuesday of each month. For more information, call the Library at 664-7328.

  • Colonel (Ret.) Rodney M. Davis is the Executive Director of Cooperating Hampton Roads Organizations for Minorities in Engineering (CHROME), a non-profit consortium which is focused on increasing opportunities for minorities and women to enter science, mathematics, engineering and related technical fields. Prior to his work at CHROME Col. Davis was an instructor at the Joint Forces Staff College and Director of Public Affairs for the International Coalition for the War on Terror in Afghanistan. In that position he directed all public affairs operations in Afghanistan. Col. Davis lives in Ingleside.

  • Jane Goldman is the President and co-owner of Commonwealth Construction Company, a commercial general contracting company specializing in office, retail and automotive dealership design and building. Ms. Goldman is also the Vice-President of Darden Properties, Inc. where she oversees a portfolio of commercial real estate properties. Ms. Goldman is a member of the Board of Directors of Builders and Contractors Exchange, and is on the Advisory Board of the Women’s Center of Tidewater Community College. She lives in Algonquin Park.
