NORFOLK PUBLIC LIBRARY CELEBRATES TEEN READ WEEK-GET ACTIVE @YOUR LIBRARY, OCTOBER 15-21

Norfolk, VA (September 15, 2006) - This October 15-21, Norfolk Public Library joins with the American Library Association to celebrate Teen Read Week. This year's theme is "Get Active @ Your Library. The theme encourages teens to use the resources available at the public library to "get active" in shaping their lives and their future. By using the wealth of information at the public library, teens are able to "get active" in a plethora of areas. Not only can they be active on the playing field, but they can also be active in politics, volunteering, or in conservation efforts. This theme caters to all teens no matter where their unique interests lie. The message needs to be spread that tools available at the library, such as reference books and the Internet, allow teens to get active in their community and their world.
