  • America's Literacy Directory.
    A service of the National Institute for Literacy and Partners, this site allows you to search for literacy programs for adults, children, and people with learning disabilities. Search by zip code for programs within a 5 mile or 100 mile radius. You may search for help with reading and writing; find official GED test centers; get help with English as a second language, or find help with math.

  • LiteracyLink.
    Provides a link for underserved and hard-to-reach adults and their teachers to quality adult basic education and GED preparation tools. LiteracyLink is a joint project of PBS Adult Learning Service, the National Center on Adult Literacy of the University of Pennsylvania, Kentucky Educational Television, and the Kentucky Department of Education.

  • National Institute for Literacy.
    Includes facts and statistics about literacy. Also has information about grants, programs, services, and more.

  • Parents and Children Together Online.
    Online magazine from the Family Literacy Center at the ERIC Clearinghouse for Reading, English and Communication. The magazine's goal is to further the cause of family literacy by bringing parents and children together through the magic of reading. PCTO features original stories and articles for children, suitable for reading aloud. A special section for parents features articles on issues related to children's reading and writing and book reviews of recent children's literature.

  • REACH Inc.
    REACH is an organization founded in 1998 in an effort to provide literacy experiences and learning materials to children in local area shelters.

  • Tidewater Literacy Council.
    A non-profit organization providing one-to-one tutoring to non-reading or low-level reading adults in the four cities, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, of Tidewater Virginia.

  • Virginia Adult Learning Resource Center.
    From Virginia Commonwealth University, this site provides adult education and literacy resources. It also includes information on professional development in Virginia. Resources also include facts and statistics about literacy, grant and funding opportunities, and other news and events.
