Assateague Island National Seashore.
Located near Chincoteague Island, VA, and Ocean City, MD, the park contains over 37 miles of beach where 300 wild ponies wander. Chincoteague ponies were made famous by Marguerite Henry's book, Misty of Chincoteague. The Wild Pony Swim is usually held on the last consecutive Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of July.
