The purpose of the Friends of the Norfolk Public Library (FNPL) is to organize, encourage and strengthen public support for the Norfolk Public Library and to enrich the total resources and facilities of the Library. Since being founded in 1956, members have engaged in a variety of activities from raising money to fostering a love for reading and learning. Those efforts include:
- Raising money for the new book fund by organizing used book sales
- Lobbying for increased state and local funding and improvement of existing facilities
- Funding special needs of the library such as the Summer Reading Program, the Library newsletter, and the annual Book Review Contest
The library provides expert assistance and free access to an incredible range of materials. From the classics to business journals, beloved children's books to Internet access, biographies to video blockbusters, the latest fiction to current events, you'll find it at the library. As a Friend of the Norfolk Public Library, you will ensure that the library remains a vital and progressive force in the life of our community.
