Tristan Wells is an 11th grade home-schooled student in Norfolk. His very first experience in public volunteering was in the Norfolk Public Library. He has been volunteering his time at the Van Wyck Branch Library ever since October 14th of 2005 and has since become President of the Van Wyck Branch Library’s Teen Advisory Board since 2008. Tristan volunteers at least two to three times a week if not more and helps out by going over the individual sections of the library and organizing them; arranging the KidZones, shelving books, DVDs and other miscellaneous media. He also helps out library patrons with their needs as well as assisting with other special projects and events, such as the library’s Reader’s Theatre programs. After Tristan finishes high school, he plans on attending college to study art and computers to learn how to become a comic book writer and possibly an author or film director. His interests include Star Wars, video games, reading/writing/history and listening to music and watching movies and discussing their differences between on what they are based on and/or how they synch with other significant plays and/or books.
The Norfolk Public Library staff appreciates his hard work and dedication to being a library volunteer. He will also be featured on the NPL Volunteer website and in the NPL Newsletter. “Volunteer of the Month” receives a $10.00 gift card to Barnes and Noble and well as Certificate of Appreciation. |
