Beth Miller is a senior at Old Dominion University and would like to be a librarian after graduation. She started volunteering at Van Wyck Branch Library in March of 2009 to get experience in the field. She continues to volunteer because she enjoys it and can always find something good to read in the process. Since Beth reads about four to five books a week, she states, “It’s a great opportunity to find new authors”. Beth has been a real asset to the staff at Van Wyck, working 3 hours each Friday or Saturday. She double checks library card applications, shelves and organizes books and AV as well as assisting with weeding and displays. Van Wyck staff (and Beth) hope to one day have her onboard as a permanent part time employee in our system while she finishes her degree. Thank YOU Beth for all you do for NPL! The staff of Van Wyck Branch Library appreciates Beth’s dedication to the library volunteer program. She will also be featured on the NPL Volunteer website and in the NPL Newsletter. “Volunteer of the Month” receives a $10.00 gift card to Barnes and Noble and well as Certificate of Appreciation |
