The Jennings Family

Les and Donna Jennings started volunteering while both were in the Navy at command Adopt-a-Schools, command highway cleaning projects, Paint Your Heart Out, Clean the Bay Day, D.E.F.Y. and local children's hospices. After their children were born, Lenora and Les Jr., the family became involved in school projects as well as community events. Lenora and Les Jr. were avid readers and soon it was clear that a library connection would be beneficial and the family just volunteering at a place that was helping them too. At Les's 30 year retirement ceremony he gave each of the children a shadow box with the U.S. flag and a brass plate inscribed with "Serve Others - Pass it on" and they have taken it to heart. The Jennings family has given over 150 hours of volunteer service to the Norfolk Public Library since 2008. They have volunteered their time in many ways from sorting books, assisting at local branch libraries and participating in parades and festivals. Thank YOU Jennings family for all you do for NPL! The Norfolk Public Library appreciates Les, Donna, Lenora and Les Jr. Jennings for their dedication to the library volunteer program. They will also be featured in the NPL Newsletter. The “Volunteer of the Month” receives a $10.00 gift card to Barnes and Noble and well as a Certificate of Appreciation. |
